This project featured custom laser engraving on a Tisas 1911A1 Tank Commander pistol finished in electroless nickel, with the design centered on traditional acanthus scrollwork executed in controlled relief.

Work began with careful surface evaluation and conditioning to ensure the nickel finish was stable, clean, and suitable for precision engraving. Electroless nickel presents unique challenges due to its uniform thickness and reflectivity; engraving parameters were selected specifically to achieve clean material definition without disrupting the surrounding finish.

The acanthus scroll pattern was laid out to complement the proportions and geometry of the slide, emphasizing flow and balance while maintaining restraint appropriate to the platform. Laser engraving was performed with deliberate depth control to create a subtle relief effect, allowing the scrollwork to read clearly under changing light without appearing overly aggressive or mechanical.

Throughout the process, attention was given to preserving factory markings, edges, and functional surfaces. The result is a refined decorative enhancement that adds visual character while respecting the original finish and design intent of the pistol.
